Jon Cunningham
Jon spent over a decade with Red in London, joining as an account executive and rising to board director, before moving to head up the New York office in the summer of 2007.
He has a diverse expertise across the spectrum of PR disciplines including media relations, news creation, brand positioning and building, corporate profiling, integrated marketing, sponsorship and events.
A clear strategic thinker with a head for ideas, he has devised and run some of the agency’s most ambitious and successful projects, winning PR Week’s Campaign of the Year twice.
Much of his career has been spent working with companies and brands at the forefront of the consumer technology sector, beginning with Compaq’s first home PCs in the mid-1990s. Throughout the dotcom boom and bust Jon was directing campaigns for three of the biggest brands on the Internet at the time: Amazon, Expedia, and Microsoft’s MSN. For the next six years he led the team which launched Xbox and Xbox 360, Xbox Live and countless games including the Halo franchise, helping to establish Xbox as the leading next generation video game system.
In addition he has also worked on a number of industry-leading consumer brands including Electronic Arts, Guinness, Ladbrokes, and Nike, launching NikeTown London.
Most recently Jon returned to Microsoft’s MSN and Windows Live businesses, running the UK and European accounts, before his move to manage Red’s New York office, lead Microsoft’s US online advertising efforts and act as global account director.
