Red Health has produced a film showcasing the story of Jane and her journey with kidney cancer.
The purpose of the 20 minute documentary is to increase awareness of kidney cancer (44% of adults have never heard the term ‘kidney cancer’), stimulate debate around the concept of ‘extra time’ for patients and highlight the importance of hope for those affected by the disease.
Red Health supported The James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer and Kidney Cancer UK in launching the series of impactful films to help raise awareness of the devastating disease.
A private screening of ‘Kidney Cancer: Jane’s Journey’ - a personal account of life with kidney cancer which Jane herself described as "a gift" to make - was shown at the Curzon cinema in Soho this week.
Kidney cancer accounts for around 3,700 deaths annually, which is more than die on the roads each year in the UK. The number of people diagnosed with the condition has also increased by 22% over the last ten years. Survey research highlighting the shockingly low public awareness of kidney cancer was released to coincide with the launch of the film.
The film was commissioned by the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer and Kidney Cancer UK in co-sponsorship with Novartis Oncology, Red Health and Day For Night Films.
