Red’s campaign for
Totaljobs.com turned the online recruitment site into the leading voice of the UK labour market in UK media and the ‘go to’ commentator on job-related issues in the UK.
Despite being well established and a top three player in its market, Totaljob.com felt their media profile was too low. We were briefed to raise that media profile and leverage the company’s existing properties and content in order to promote their insight and what they offer to jobseekers to drive awareness and site use.
The first task was indentifying a designated voice and face that the media could turn to – Website Director John Salt became the person we used across proactive and reactive media relations activity.
We used a range of tactics to promote Totaljobs.com’s expertise during the campaign.
Totaljobs.com co-authored a report with the
Centre for Economics and Business Research on public sector jobs. As well as targeting traditional media, social media space was utilised through a series of podcasts on employment issues.
Quarterly
‘Total.jobs.com Barometer’ breakfast briefings were held for media and recruiters which gave regional breakdowns for job applications and movement across the UK. Internally, we made sure this exhaustive data and insight was market-ready for the company’s sales team.
We negotiated a number of columns for John to appear in to further position his and Total.job.com’s expertise.
Our 24/7 press office also created numerous media opportunities by aligning the excellent data and insights that Totaljobs.com was already generating with the ongoing jobs debate and fears over public sector cuts and graduate fees.
We also created new internal communications materials for the regional sales force to use externally with recruiters and new business leads. This included sourcing, writing and designed a monthly staff newsletter.
Our work for Total.job.com has successfully raised its media profile. During a similar period when the company had achieved under 100 articles, we delivered over 1,000. Moreover, our PR led to direct sales leads to help the business meet its commercial objectives.
