Leading experts from law enforcement agencies and academic institutes, including the FBI and NATO, contributed to the report which highlighted how the current economic recession has led to an increase in cybercrime recruitment drives.

McAfee’s Virtual Criminology Report generated over 250 pieces of US media coverage, educating millions of readers, viewers and listeners on the dangers of cybercrime caused by the economic crisis.

An interview with McAfee CEO, Dave DeWalt, was syndicated by KNTV/NBC News and aired on over 50 stations nationwide. An AP Wire story was syndicated by 80 national and regional online outlets including The New York Times, USA Today, Newsweek, San Francisco Chronicle, Chicago Tribune and Boston Globe.

The report generated numerous sales leads for McAfee and ensured the internet security company had the industry’s lead share of voice in December.
