Re-imagining Shakespeare with Adobe

06 Nov 2019

Earlier this year, Red Consultancy was tasked with driving mainstream traction for an education partnership between Adobe and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

We were given license to be creative so we commissioned five UK artists to take scenes from some of Shakespeare’s best-known plays and give them a modern-day makeover.

We worked with a comic book artist, conceptual artist, animator, fantasy photographer and illustrator to recreate Romeo and Juliet’s first meeting via a dating app in a hipster café; depict the three witches in Macbeth sourcing the recipe for their potion online; and re-imagine Oberon and Puck from A Midsummer Night’s Dream in a superhero fantasy.

We packaged it up with some research into young people’s views of Shakespeare and since going live a couple of weeks ago, the results haven’t stopped rolling in. 177 pieces of coverage (and counting) including Mail Online, Metro, ITV News online, loads of broadcast, regionals and pick up in the creative titles. We also managed all the social which has seen loads of engagement and positive comments.
